Former Marvel CEO Avi Arad brought the Spiderman, X-Men and Fantastic Four series to the silver screen. Now he wants to do the same thing with . . . Robosapien?

WowWee Ltd. (which markets the robotic toy) announced they're teaming up with Arad Productions to make a movie about Robosapien and his family. The flick will combine live-action with CGI animation, and is scheduled for a 2009 release.

"We are thrilled to be working with Avi Arad," claimed WowWee Group president Richard Yanofsky. "He is the ideal person to successfully translate Robosapien's lifelike characteristics and endearing personality into a compelling and entertaining story. Watching Arad bring Robosapien to life will be a dream come true."

"The toy industry is my first love," added Arad. "And Robosapien has intrigued me since he was introduced. He has all the right elements to make a family feature film with the ability to touch people on an emotional level."

Robosapien and his electronic family have sold more than 4 million units since its debut in 2004.

Fun Fact: Roboticist/physicist Mark W. Tilden developed Robosapien. He also served as a consultant on the 2001 live-action film Tomb Raider, starring Angelina Jolie.
