The Cartoon Network really loves its Hellboy: Blood and Iron. Last week it announced it would air the animated movie on March 10th as part of Toonami's 10th Anniversary celebration. Now, according to Sci-Fi Wire, the network is also airing the flick the next Saturday as well, March 17th at 7 pm.
Here's the plot synopsis: "Professor Broom (the voice of John Hurt) discovers that someone in New York is attempting to bring back the evil female vampire Erzsebet Ondrusko, whom the professor destroyed 60 years earlier. Erzsebet was known to bathe in the blood of innocents to retain her youth. Professor Broom calls upon three of the top B.P.R.D. agents — Hellboy (Ron Perlman), Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) and Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) — to investigate."
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola co-wrote the script while Tad Stones and Victor Cook directed the movie. Guillermo Del Toro and Mignola are the creative producers.
Fun Fact: The character of Erzsebet Ondrusko in Hellboy: Blood and Iron is based on Hungarian noblewoman and serial killer Erzebet Báthory (1560 - 1614), who tortured and murdered somewhere between 36 and 650 young girls between 1585 and 1610 (details are somewhat murky). Rumours spread well after her death claimed that Báthory would bathe in the blood of her victims to retain her youthful beauty.
