Gerard Butler and America Ferrera headline DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon, adapted from the Cressida Cowell book. Movie comes in March 26, 2010.

Actors Gerard Butler and America Ferrera are lending their vocal talents to DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon, according to Variety. This will be the second film that DreamWorks will release in its so-called "ultimate 3-D" format, the first being 2009's Monsters vs. Aliens.

Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel and Christopher Mintz-Plasse have also signed on for the film, an adaptation of Cressida Cowell's bestselling children's book. It was initially released by Hodder Children's Books in 2003.

How to Train Your Dragon Synopsis

How to Train Your Dragon is ostensibly written by Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a teenage Viking who uses his brains to compensate for his lack of muscles. According to the book's cover, Cowell merely translated the story from the Old Norse.

In order to pass his initiation and become a true Viking, Hiccup must capture and train the biggest, deadliest dragon he can find. Unfortunately, he ends up with Toothless, a small, ornery wyrm that really lives up to its name.

Hiccup also wrote How To Be A Pirate, How to Speak Dragonese, How to Train Your Viking, How to Cheat a Dragon's Curse , How to Twist a Dragons Tale and A Hero's Guide To Deadly Dragons, which Cowell also kindly translated into English. Therefore, if the How to Train Your Dragon movie makes mucho diñero at the box office, DreamWorks Animation will have plenty of source material for sequels.

The latest book is called A Hero's Guide To Deadly Dragons, but it's subtitled How Not To Celebrate Your Birthday.

Ugly Betty and 300 Stars in How to Train Your Dragon

Ferrera is best known for playing the title character on Touchstone Television's Ugly Betty, while Gerard Butler's star turn as King Leonidas in the Zach Snyder film 300 turned the line "THIS IS SPARTA!!!!" into a popular catchphrase.

Hill, Baruchel and Mintz-Plasse are all veterans of the Judd Apatow comedy factory, with Hill headlining Superbad supported by Mintz-Plasse, and Baruchel appearing in Knocked Up.

It's not known as yet who's been cast in what role, but Butler's stentorian vocal tones are likely to get used for the role of Stoick the Vast, Hiccup's father and leader of the Hairy Hooligans.

Ferrera may get cast either as Hiccup' quest-loving mother Valhallarama, or Hiccup's friend Camicazi, a fierce female warrior from the Bog Burglars. It's anyone's guess who gets the plum role of Hiccup, but the smart money is on Hill after Superbad.

How to Train Your Dragon is scheduled for a March 26, 2010 release.
