Is it just me or does The Simpsons Movie look like more of the same-old, same-old? Movie hits theatres July 27th.
(Source: www.joblo.com) There are a lot of mixed attitudes about the upcoming The Simpsons Movie. Many feel the show has jumped the shark, and that creator Matt Groening should have come out with this movie 5 years ago. Judging by the 9.3 Popcorn Rating (out of 10) on JoBlo, there are still many people who will be first in line when The Simpsons Movie opens on July 27th. JoBlo managed to scare up some images from the upcoming flick on his website. Fox asked him to take the images down but replaced them with three other images. So what's the result of all this? Quite frankly, a whole lot of nada. We can see Homer happily menacing Bart with a hammer, Homer getting assaulted by wolves and Homer having a bad experience with a wrecking ball and a Zesty Fork billboard (as we saw in the teaser trailer). Obviously Fox doesn't want moviegoers knowing any spoilers before the flick hits theatres, but five months before the flick opens and nobody knowing what's going on? This is either brilliant or goofy, I'm not sure which. It's obvious that there's no difference between the animation on the TV show versus that in the movie (will they mock that in the movie the way they have on the TV show sometimes? Your guess is as good as mine). Is The Simpsons Movie a grand continuation of the longest-running sitcom in American TV history, or the last gasp of a show that should be put out of our misery? You can decide when it opens on July 27th. You can also check out the authorized images over here. Fun Fact: Fox registered the URL www.simpsonsmovie.com way back in the dark days of 1997. There's not much there: some funky animation, them music, a few downloads, the trailer and a link to the TV series. Oh yeah, and there's no Canada extension to the site. Apparently we're supposed to go via the U.S. link.
